Miracle Beach Family Photo Session

A family photo session is a wonderful opportunity to capture memories that will last a lifetime. And when it comes to choosing the perfect location for your family portraits, Miracle Beach in British Columbia offers a stunning backdrop that’s sure to impress. With its expansive sandy beach, lush forest, and private campsites, Miracle Beach offers endless possibilities for a memorable family photo shoot.

Whether its sunny, cloudy, or raining Miracle Beach is going to deliver for your family photo session!

As a Campbell River Photographer, I like to choose photoshoot locations that are close to Campbell River so it is convenient for my clients, and that have some opportunity for shelter. Miracle Beach not only is a short and scenic drive from Campbell River, but it also has beautiful forested paths. This means during times of high wind, or bright direct sun there is a spot to retreat to.

(because no one wants the bright sun in their face, as this creates harsh shadows and can accentuate wrinkles).

If you are from Vancouver Island you know how nice it is when the rain stops for a day and the sun comes out to play! Believe it or not, this family portrait session was captured in February!!!

The whole family was comfortably out in light sweaters. We are not always so lucky with the weather as it wouldn’t be winter on the island if it didn’t rain all of the time.

If you love the idea of an outdoor photoshoot I highly recommend dressing for the weather which can mean sporting a stylish raincoat, matching rainboots, or clear umbrellas (a popular accessory for those who get married on the island but still want their portraits taken!).

Either way not to worry, if you book a session with me I will come to your home and help you pick out your outfits, and discuss options should it rain.

The shot above is a “peek-a-boo” style pose, and honestly, this family loved it! It is the image that is now hanging on their wall in the living room. Depending on everyone’s height, this can be a fun pose to try for your family photo session. It also depends on your family’s personality and style, not all poses work for all families. For my family photo sessions, I like to meet with my clients and their families ahead of the shoot.

This helps get that nervous “first-time-meeting-someone” energy out of the way and allows us to get to know each other BEFORE the photo session. 99.9% of my clients are nervous about their upcoming family photo session, and that is totally valid! Taking the time to get to know my clients beforehand has been a major contributor to having a relaxed and enjoyable photo session.

Erin is a wonderful photographer who makes you feel so comfortable… the end results are amazing.
